Plot
Kazuma Satō, a hikkikomori who lives in a more rural part of Japan, makes an uncharacteristic decision to save a girl from getting hit by a passing vehicle and dies. When he wakes up, a girl named Aqua mocks him for his final act and offers to reincarnate him in a fantasy world similar to his favorite role-playing game: with magic, adventure, and even an evil Demon King to defeat. He accepts, with the condition that Aqua also come along with him, thinking he can use her god-like abilities to easily progress through the adventure in his next life and defeat the Demon King. Unfortunately, he soon realizes that the life of a fantasy hero isn't what he imagined: having to work each day to find jobs that pay him enough for food and shelter, with very few rabid monsters to fight, and the ones that do appear don't drop money and items when killed. To make things worse, Kazuma himself is grouped together with a stubborn Archpriest who prefers attacking to healing, an overly-dramatic Archmage whose greatest and only spell can only be used once a day, and a masochistic knight who can barely hit anything with her sword.
